Charles Bradley
I am a contemporary abstract artist, residing and working at my Ayer,
Massachusetts apartment studio. My primary medium, is an opaque watercolor
called gouache, pronounced 'gwash.' My painting's often resemble accurately
registered bold and colorful silkscreen prints but are each hand-painted,
and at times geometric. I seek to convey a variety of themes, often with
'astronomical' night skies portraying vast universal expanses with
"self-imagined" landscapes, shapes and forms. Many include soft
gradational colors. The "mood" of my paintings can often be peaceful,
although I do capture "conflict" within the beauty of the universe's
structures. As an artist, I am primarily self-taught, while holding an
earlier BS degree in the Earth Sciences. In past years, I received the
'Distinguished Artist' Award from the Concord Art Association in Concord,
Massachusetts as well as the Best of Show Award in Graphics from the
Chelmsford Art Association in Massachusetts. In the early 2000's I
displayed and sold my work in several high-end outdoor art shows in New
England often focusing in and around Montclair, New Jersey, New Paltz, New
York and locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
